Responsibilities include, among other things, helping customers purchase new and used motorcycles. In this job, you will be selling motorcycles to customers who are interested in buying them and/or learning more about them. You can also work in the call center of a major motorcycle company and provide assistance to repair shops that cannot find a solution to motorcycle problems.
Some knowledge of motorcycle and ATV mechanics is helpful but not required. You will need to be good with computers and have a basic knowledge of motorcycles, quads or SXS. You also need experience in the automotive/motorcycle industry to pass on your knowledge to your students.
You will need a colleague, so mechanical education usually takes about two years, although some courses can shorten your time to a year and a half. If you don’t know how to ride a motorcycle but are still interested in the job, you need to buy a motorcycle now and ride it for as many years as you need. If you don’t have a motorcycle license, you need to get a motorcycle license as that’s a requirement for the job.
Must have a valid California Auto Dealer License or be able to obtain one after submitting a job offer. Applicants must also have a valid U.S. driver’s license with motorcycle homologation, be able to move motorcycles (up to 900 pounds) unaided, be able to perform tasks that involve repetitive motion, work in an upright position throughout their entire shift, have the means to work on time, have a motorcycle equipment, be able to travel for required training and have at least two years of experience in the automotive field. Preference is given to applicants with at least two years of experience in the field of sales of automotive components.
